The man Robert Pattinson is playing in his new movie Mission Blacklist has revealed that before he met the Twilight star, he’d never heard of him.

Eric Maddox, an army interrogator who helped find and capture Saddam Hussain revealed that although he thought Rob was a top bloke, he wasn’t aware of the star before working with him as he’s not a fan of vampires.

The movie is set to follow Maddox’s story as he helps out in the hunt for Saddam Hussain, with Rob taking on the role of the heroic soldier.

“He’s a great guy. When they brought his name up to me, I had never heard of him before,” he said. “I don’t believe in vampire movies and stories. I just didn’t know who he was,” Maddox said at an event at Oklahoma University, according to OU Daily.

Maddox said he wore the same blue shirt for months while searching for Saddam, who went into hiding after American forces routed his army in 2003.

The soldier helped the search for the bloodthirsty dictator as American forces hunted for him near his hometown of Tikrit. The shirt has a bigmouth bass on it, velcro pockets and bloodstains.

“I’ve still got it [the shirt.] I think Rob is gonna wear it in the movie,” Maddox said.

Robert Pattinson wouldn’t want to be immortal like his Twilight character Edward Cullen.

The actor, who is best known for playing the teen vampire, is looking forward to getting wiser as he ages.

‘If I stayed at my exact same state and mental capacity, then I wouldn’t want to be immortal,’ says Rob, 26.

‘I wouldn’t want to be young forever. I like the innate wisdom that comes with getting old. People just think you know more and tend to give you a bit more respect.’

Rob admits preparing to play the flawless Edward was a tough task.

‘How on earth do you act that?’ laughs R-Pattz.

‘How do you play physical perfection? I wanted to tap into the dark side of him being a manic depressive, but ended up playing it a lot lighter.

‘Luckily, they couldn’t tell me to lighten it for the sequel, because that’s when he tried to commit suicide.’

The on/off couple have recently been reunited after the actor returned from a 2-month trip filming ‘The Rover’ in Australia, but reports claim he still has his doubts.

It is said Robert, 26, is still “scared” after Kristen, 22, had a fling with ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ director Rupert Sanders last summer.

A source told RadarOnline.com: “He’s still very cautious when it comes to fully committing himself to her, and she’s being really clingy right now. He’s a little scared that Kristen could cheat on him again.

“So, just when it looks like all is going swell, his crippling doubts come into play and he questions if he’s doing the right thing.

“Robert proposed the idea that they don’t necessarily have to live in each other’s pockets, talking about how much he missed her while he was away and said that made him realize he does still want her in his life.

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder though, and he feels their relationship will be ultimately stronger if they’re not always together.”

Although the ‘Remember Me’ heart throb seems to still want to take things slow, the couple have been inseparable recently and he was grateful for the “effort” Kristen made when he came back from Australia.

The insider added: “[She] wants to spend every minute with Robert, who has now managed to get over his reservations about living back in Los Angeles.

“She’s even talked about attempting to take summer off to spend every day with him.

“He was happy that Kristen made such an effort after he returned to the States; she rallied all their friends together for a big welcome back party and Robert was touched by the gesture.”
